$400,000 settlement in wrongful death lawsuit against Yuma County

Jason Kelly negotiated a $400,000 settlement against Yuma County for allowing a jail inmate to commit suicide while in custody.

In July 2016, the Yuma County Board of Supervisors approved a $400,000 settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a former Tempe police officer who, in 2014, killed himself in his Yuma jail cell.

Kelly & Lyons partner Jason Kelly represented the decedent’s family in the suit.

Of the $400,000, Yuma County paid $300,000 and Correctional Healthcare Solutions paid the remaining $100,000.
